UBAAUK Holds Reunion, Outgoing Executive Bows Out

The United Kingdom Branch of the University of Benin Alumni Association (UBAAUK) recently hosted a highly anticipated reunion. The event which was held virtually on 19th July 2025 brought together graduates of the University of Benin residing in the UK.

In a state of the association address before the dissolution of her executive committee, Dr. Loretta Ogboro-Okor, the outgoing UBAAUK National President, highlighted the successes achieved under her leadership. She urged members to reignite their sense of community to propel the association to greater heights.

In a special remark, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, SAN, Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, congratulated the association on the successful event. He outlined the 5-point agenda of his administration and sought the association's partnership in advancing the development of their alma mater. Prof. Eddy Erhagbe, Director, Directorate of Advancement and Alumni Relations who delivered the VC's speech, also commended the contributions of the UNIBEN Alumni community to the university's growth.

 

Following the dissolution of the current executive committee, members endorsed the formation of a steering committee led by Dr. Tony Agbons. The committee has a one-year mandate to oversee the association's affairs, with plans to host a physical reunion and conduct elections next summer. Dr. Agbons accepted the responsibility on behalf of the steering committee and encouraged members to support the association's growth.

 

The Worldwide President of the University of Benin Alumni Association (UBAA), Barr. Emmanuel Oriazuwa extended commendations to the outgone executive committee of the UK Branch for their dedication and hard work. Speaking on the transition, the President charged the newly constituted steering committee to build upon the solid foundations already laid by the previous team. He went further to congratulate members of UBAAUK for their continued efforts in keeping the UNIBEN flag flying high in the United Kingdom.
