Asue Ighodalo’s Unguarded Remarks: A Proof of Elitist Disdain For The Common Man – By MODEN Response Team

Action, they say speak louder than words. But a lot of cases have shown that action stems from the heart, which can be revealed through mode of speech and words spoken in certain regards. That is the case for Asue Ighodalo, the Edo State PDP candidate, who can no longer hide his disdain for the common man and those with little beginnings. This disdain has taken the emergency Esan son, to sink to a new low, by passing derogatory remarks targeted at the apex leader of the APC in Edo and serving Senator, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, whom Asue described as just a tailor during a BBC interview.

The tailoring profession has been a noble profession, that dates back as far as the need for man to address his basic needs for clothing. But why Asue Ighodalo, a man who claims to be exposed and prides himself as MAN WEY SABI, when in the literal sense, SABI's NOTHING or knows nothing, would seek to speak in a downplaying manner on such a noble and well-paying profession. This reeks of nothing short of Asue's pride and arrogance as well as a beret elitist mentality of people not being good enough for them, especially when the so called elite, feels better achieved in certain aspects than those they seek to belittle.

But while Asue prides himself as a Board Chairman, who suddenly claims Sen. Adams Oshiomhole no longer meets his standard, Asue, in his hypocritical nature forgot that he answered "yes sir" for eight (8) years to the man he now describes as a common tailor, while he served as a floor member of Comr. Adams Oshiomhole's economic team. This should send a clear signal to the Edo people, that the likes of Asue Ighodalo, who now suddenly jump on tables and wear his face cap backwards, to form street credibility and forge a down to earth loyalty could be likened to the character of an 'agbero' at the bus park who applies pseudo loyalty to intending commuters with hopes to receive tips and stipends, while that of Asue's case to get votes. Edo people must see beyond the gimmicks of Asue Ighodalo and reject this man who has so much disdain for noble ventures like tailoring, because to him, such isn't important at all, when compared to his "big man" role as board chairman.

While Asue Ighodalo, prides himself as board chairman, he must also be reminded of his woeful performance at the Nigeria Breweries, where the establishment recorded mouth-watering and staggering losses, a fact which till date he has not been able to deny. He must also be reminded of the Alaghadoro summit he has chaired for almost eight years, which has yielded nothing but a fluent waste of Edo tax payers money. Edo people must reject the likes of the PDP candidate who see himself as superior and others inferior. This mindset has been a barrier which has led to Asue applying a strong disconnect towards people of lower background, even his own kins men at Ewohimi. He has shown this to be his habit and would remain unrepentant. This is why Edo people must put aside a man like Asue, who has a tendency of further dividing Edo people along social strata by initiating policies that will only favour his elitist class alone.

His revelation on BBC has shown that this election is not between the PDP and APC or between Asue and Monday Okpebholo, instead it is between the common Edo man, which Asue and his master Obaseki seeks to further relegate and intimidate versus the elitist like Asue Ighodalo and Obaseki. The people of Edo should choose the side with a candidate that has Edo people at heart in this election, a side that believes in the common man irrespective of their trade and vocation, a side whose candidate want a better welfare and development for the common man. And that is Sen. Monday Okpebholo.
